About us

Set up in 2011, the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Society (UK) was formed following the 1st International Conference on Enhanced Recovery (September 2010, Bristol, UK).  During this event, a consensus was reached that some form of society or network would be useful to share information and best practice as fast-track protocols were rolled out across the UK and adopted in new specialties.  

ERAS UK aims to improve patient recovery after surgery by promoting knowledge, understanding and research regarding optimal outcomes.  We hold one annual conference which is attended by a broad mix of healthcare professionals, from an increasing variety of specialties.  The 850 members of the society receive regular updates and have input into the content and location of meetings.

​ERAS UK was formally adopted as the British Chapter of the International ERAS Society in 2016.
​In August 2017, our society was incorporated as a community interest company (Number: 10932208) which recognises our not-for-profit status. The company directors are:
